Basic Construction

The qualification:
This qualification is aimed at people who want to gain skills and experience to be able to apply for jobs in the construction and other related industries; there will also be the opportunity to gain the CSCS card which is a requirement by most construction employers.

What does the qualification cover?
• Basic construction in skills in joinery and plastering
• Health and Safety Level 1
• Manual Handling Level 2

Duration and location:
Course delivered at the Chamber’s Construction Training Centre, 528 Fleet Lane, Parr, St Helens, WA9 2NB

It takes place 1 day per week for 6 weeks 9:00am – 4:30pm

Assessment method:
Practical assignments, multi choice questionnaires, witness testimonies and photographs.

What kind of jobs can be applied for?
Construction site operative and other relevant vacancies.

What opportunities for progression are there?
This award will give the learner some basic construction skills which will enable them to apply for entry onto the Level 1 course delivered at the construction training centre.
