AAT Foundation in Accounting

If you’re looking to start a career as an Accountant or Finance Assistant, our AAT Foundation in Accounting can give you the skills and experience you need to kick-start your career.

AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting Level 2

AAT Foundation Certificate in AccountingDuration: Full time Apprentices will spend 12-16 months on this programme, working towards the Apprenticeship standards with a minimum of 20% off-the-job training.
Course Content: The AAT Foundation Accounting Apprenticeship (Level 2)  will develop student’s accountancy skills in double-entry bookkeeping and basic costing, as well as an understanding of purchase, sales and general ledgers. Students will learn to use accounting software and to develop the professional skills and behaviours needed to contribute effectively in the workplace.
Working in accountancy requires good communication skills, IT skills and an understanding of the business environment, all of which are covered by this qualification.

 

Accounting Apprentice Job Role:

An Accounts/Finance Assistant is an integral part of the team responsible for maintaining an efficient and accurate finance function within a business.
Duties can include:

  • Maintaining an efficient and accurate finance function within a business.
  • Assisting the team of accountants with junior accounting duties.
  • Basic bookkeeping activities
  • Working with sales and purchase ledgers
  • Running calculations to ensure that records and payments are correc
  • Recording of cash and data entry

Required skills of an Apprentice Accountant

  • The ability to examine data to identify issues
  • The ability to reconcile data to minimise the chance of errors
  • The ability to plan and review work
  • Recognise and rectifies errors
  • Great customer service skills
