Digital & IT Skills (Level 2)

The free Level 2 Digital & IT Skills course is for learners who want to develop and extend their digital and IT skills to prepare for different roles in the digital and creative industries, such as software and programming, network support and digital design. The qualifications are also designed for job roles in other industries where specific digital and IT skills are required, such as finance, marketing, machining and manufacturing.

Qualification:

Gateway Level 2 Certificate in Digital & IT Skills.

Course content:

Learners will gain knowledge and understanding in the following areas;

  • The importance of digital skills in the workplace and how changes in employment have led to an increase in demand across a number of sectors
  • Learners will learn about the different types of job roles where digital skills are required, and the characteristics valued by employers to establish a successful career in today’s digital economy
  • Identification of their own career/progression goals and plan how they will develop their digital skills to meet their intended goals
  • Spreadsheet software tools and techniques to be able to produce spreadsheets. How to apply advanced formulae and functions to process data and use automated tools to aid productivity
  • The ability to maximise the tools available in word-processing software to prepare, process and produce a wide range of sophisticated and professional documents accurately and efficiently
  •  Presentation software and how to create effective presentations for different purposes and audiences.
  • They will also learn about inclusive design and how to apply techniques to ensure presentations are accessible
  •  Exploration of new and emerging technologies and how they have influenced business operations and are used to meet business needs.

 Progression and related jobs:

Upon completing of this qualification, learners may wish to progress onto a higher level of learning, or utilise these skills in their search for employment in a variety of roles in most industries that use digital skills on a daily basis.

Assessment Criteria:

This qualification is assessed via a portfolio of evidence and learners should expect to work towards this both in and out of the classroom days.

Please note that you will be invited to attend an Enrolment Session prior to the course which will involve meeting with the Tutor and undertaking an initial assessment to determine suitability for the course – your place cannot be confirmed until this is completed.
