Fast Track to Employment in Warehousing and Manufacturing

Are you aged 16-24 and looking to start a career in Warehousing and Manufacturing? Our new programme can help. Lasting up to 12 weeks, this programme will give you practical experience, qualifications and all the skills that local employers are looking for.

What does the Fast Track to Employment programme include?

The Fast Track to Employment programme in Warehousing and Manufacturing includes everything you need to get started. Alongside 5 weeks work experience with a fantastic local employer, you’ll also benefit from everything below….

Nationally Recognised Qualifications

These qualifications are specially selected to help you to get the knowledge you need to get started.

Level 1 Health and Safety

This qualification is designed to give learners the knowledge and understanding of the basic principles of health and safety, hazards that can arise and some of the protection available against those hazards.

Objectives include:

  • To understand the importance of following health and safety procedures
  • To know key rights and responsibilities relating to health and safety
  • To have a basic awareness of potential hazards and the conditions which afford risk
  • To identify safe practices and protective equipment.

Level 1 Award in Personal Development for Employability

The objective of this qualification is to prepare you for employment and/or support a role in the workplace.

Objectives include:

  • Developing effective communication skills for the workplace
  • Complaint resolutions
  • Managing your health at work including the employee’s role in maintaining good health, support services that employers can provide, and other sources of health support
  • Effective team working
  • Produce a Curriculum Vitae

Level 2 City and Guilds Award in Principles of Warehousing

This qualification develops the knowledge you need to work safely and responsibly in a warehouse or storage facility.

Objectives: To achieve 5 learning outcomes

  1. Understand how to receive and store goods and materials
  2. Understand how to process orders and dispatch goods
  3. Understand how to deliver effective customer service
  4. Understand health, safety, security and legislation
  5. Understand how to be an effective team worker

Skills added to your CV

During the training you’ll gain plenty of industry specific skills, and transferrable skills, to help you start your career and succeed!

These include:

  • Basic lean manufacturing skills (4R’s, 5S’s and more)
  • Manual handling awareness
  • Basic warehousing skills and knowledge of warehousing principles
  • Receipt of goods
  • Stock control
  • Picking and Packing
  • Customer Service
  • Teamwork
  • Communication

Sustainability in Warehousing/Manufacturing

Throughout the course you’ll also learn about sustainability in Warehousing/Manufacturing. With rising costs and environmental concerns, businesses are more aware than ever about their sustainability, and having this knowledge will help you stand out from the crowd.

Training will focus on waste reduction, sourcing sustainable materials and more!

Enrichment activities and special projects

During this programme, you’ll have access to a number of guest speakers, enrichment days and lots of activities to further develop your skills and expand your knowledge in a range of areas. These give you a great talking point at interviews too!

You’ll also be able to take part in a community project, and put your skills into practice for a good cause.

Community Manufacturing Project

When enrolling on this course, you’ll put your knowledge and skills into practice by creating and distributing Bug Hotels to local early years providers.

From sourcing and picking goods, to manufacture and distribution of the Bug Hotels – you’ll follow standard procedures and see the project through from start to finish.

This will give you experience of working on projects in the workplace – and you’ll be supported by our training team every step of the way!
