St Helens Chamber works with young people in a range of ways to give them the skills and experience they need to enter the workplace. Through the Chamber’s Fast Track to Apprenticeship programmes, young people can choose their own path and work on skills and qualifications directly related to their chosen industry.
Students work closely with Training Advisers achieve their qualifications and our Career Coaches help to build their employability skills, so they know exactly what is expected of them in the workplace.
Rebecca Hitchen, Young People’s Development Team Leader, explained: “We have two groups of amazing young people who are all determined to succeed in their chosen fields. We’ve been working closely with them and every single student we’re putting forward is now ‘Chamber Approved’.
“This means that they have completed all their employability training and we are confident that they can hit the ground running and be an asset to any workplace, so now we are looking for businesses wo can offer them some vital work experience.”
With financial support available to employers who take on a young person on work experience, there has never been a better time to get some much-needed support for your business – and give a young person the experience they need to take the first step in their career.
Rebecca continued: “Employers taking on students will have the full support of the Chamber, and we can even help you access any available funding to cover your costs. We understand that many businesses are stretched currently, so our students can provide an extra pair of hands to help you through these busy times.
“Young people can bring fresh insights to your business and even identify opportunities you might not have seen yourself. We would like to encourage any businesses who might be interested in providing a placement to have a look through our student’s profiles and see if anyone would be a good match for you.”
