Stephen Corke has been offered two jobs since updating his CV and accessing application support from the National Careers Service at St Helens Chamber. As the National Careers Service for St Helens, St Helens Chamber can offer free and impartial careers advice to anyone who needs it.
Stephen had serviced in the army and been a Police Officer for over 30 years, so his CV needed some work to help him secure the customer service and administration roles that he was looking for.
Stephen explained: “At the appointment, the National Careers Service helped me to alter my CV for specific roles that I wanted to apply for. They also helped me use online tools to assist me with understanding the way to apply for jobs and find out what support was available to me.;
“I’ve used the service before following my retirement from the Police, and found it really helpful to get me back into work.”

Since updating his CV and tailoring his applications with the support of Careers Adviser, Emma, Stephen has had two job offers and has accepted his preferred position in a doctors surgery.
Emma explained: “Stephen had some great experience in the Police and the Army but his CV needed adapting to match the jobs he was applying for and to make sure his transferrable skills were highlighted. We went through his CV and tailored it to his preferred roles and its great news that Stephen has been successful in securing a role.
