St Helens Chamber and Torus Foundation recently hosted pupils from St Augustine Of Canterbury Catholic High School in the purpose-built St Helens Chamber Construction Training Centre.
Throughout the day, pupils worked on their practical construction skills and were given the chance to try out a range of activities to give them an insight into construction as a career.
Neil Rigby, Team Leader at St Helens Chamber Construction Training Centre, commented: “It was a fantastic day and the whole team loved having the pupils training with us. The students were able to try out a range of activities and they really enjoyed the whole session.
“They did some plastering, joinery, bricklaying and more and were able to get hands on experience. We hope that this careers day will inspire some future construction workers!”
St Helens Chamber and Torus Foundation work together on a range of community projects, designed to engage local people and give them practical skills and information to help them make decisions about their future careers.
Joanne Lyon, Employment and Skills Advisor at Torus Foundation, commented: “It was a fantastic day, the students fully engaged in all the sessions and were impeccably behaved.
“We look forward to working with St Helens Chamber and local schools in the future to help our services reach even more people.”
