Pimmies Pies is growing thanks to support from St Helens Chamber and St.Helens Council.
Operating from Jackson Street, St Helens, the local pie makers received financial planning support and a business grant of £3321 towards a pie press and pie dies to manufacture new products.
The investment in the new equipment has created four new jobs, exceeding their original forecasts.
Having approached St Helens Chamber for support, it was identified that a St.Helens Council Business Grant would be a suitable investment for growth.
John Woods, Investment Readiness Adviser at the Chamber, said: “I worked with Arthur [Bevan] on the business financial planning and the forecasts we produced indicated that the St.Helens Council Business Grant was a good investment that would result in improved financial performance and job creation.”
Arthur Bevan, Director at Pimmies Pies, commented: “With the grant we’ve been able to invest in the pie die and equipment we otherwise wouldn’t have been able to afford so quickly. As a result we’ve seen an increase in trade as we’re now producing a wider range of products.
“John’s advice and forecasting proved invaluable when it came to applying for the grant. The process was straightforward and we’re hoping to see continued growth.”
John added: “It was a real pleasure to work with such a well-known local brand as Pimmies, and it has been very satisfying to see the business continue to go from strength to strength.”
Councillor John Fulham, St Helens Council’s Cabinet Member for Growth, said: “Time and again we see local businesses grow thanks to support from St.Helens Council and the Chamber. It’s a trend I’m pleased to see continue with Pimmies Pies – a brand that is almost synonymous with the Borough, and one which I hope will continue to thrive here for many years to come.”
