St Helens Chamber’s first Manufacturing Focus event took place at Pilkington Greengate Works on the 28th September and was a big hit with those in attendance.

Designed especially for local manufacturing and engineering companies, this event provided the perfect platform to network in an informal setting whilst touring around a local manufacturing business.

Delegates heard from guest speakers Neil Syder, Head of UK Operations at Pilkington United Kingdom Ltd and Simon Reid, Sector Manager at Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership, before beginning a factory tour around the float glass line.

Geoff Bates, Business Support Manager at S t Helens Chamber, said: “It was good to see so many local businesses at the event hosted by Pilkington and the feedback that we have received since has been very positive.

“Neil’s presentation gave a fascinating insight into the challenges faced by the company over recent years and how they have been overcome.

“Simon outlined the scope of his LCR 4.0 project and I have already passed on a couple of follow up enquiries to him.”

Our next Manufacturing Focus event takes place on the 9th November from 8am-10am at the Land Rover Halewood Visitor Centre, presented by Jaguar Land Rover. The event is free to attend and open to owners and senior managers of businesses within the manufacturing and engineering sectors in and around St Helens.
