For sole trader Howard Jackson of Open Door Multimedia the value of networking has never been clearer.

His St Helens based photography and video business has gained a number of new customers after making useful connections at St Helens Chamber networking events.

Chamber Member Howard frequently attends Chamber events and has found them beneficial for establishing himself as a supplier to local businesses.

Howard says: “Networking at the Chamber has been a foundation for going to other networking events. I’d highly recommend Chamber events to anyone who is new to business.”

Business Breakfasts at the Chamber have proved particularly helpful for Howard. He commented: “The format is really good, with everyone having the opportunity to introduce themselves to the room before the networking begins.

“You can come along and learn how to conduct yourself in a networking situation and how to talk about yourself and what you do.”

“Just being there and repeatedly showing face is good for new and established businesses. People get to know you and what you do, and they’ll come for you when they require a service.”

Most recently Howard connected with Carol Pearson at the Chamber and went on to produce two videos for her and the International Teachers Programme – a charitable organisation which promotes pedagogy in business schools across the world.

For Carol, also a Chamber Member, the events have also proved beneficial. She commented: “I connected with Howard the second time I attended a Chamber event. For me as an independent consultant they are most useful for making contact with potential suppliers like Howard, as well as picking up useful information about business in the North West.”
