On Tuesday 13th September we hosted our Connect @ the Chamber event where we were joined by Liam Hackett, founder of one of the country’s largest anti-bullying organisations, Ditch the Label, and digital marketing agency Hackett and Tiger.
Liam, from Clock Face, founded Ditch the Label in 2008 with support from the Chamber’s start up team.
Attendees were wowed by Liam’s inspirational story, from his personal experiences of bullying, to founding his charity at the age of 16.
Liam’s inspirational story is one of triumph through adversity as he overcame his bullies and built his businesses from scratch in his living room. He has since been ranked above executives from Netflix, T-Mobile and General Motors in Richtopia’s Most Influential CEOs list.
Mike Caffrey, proprietor of Alpha Swim commented: “Liam Hackett’s presentation at the Chamber was the highlight of a wholly worthwhile morning. To learn about how he not only overcame dire personal issues during his youth, but turned such negativity into a force for good was truly inspirational. The manner in which Liam analysed the growth, success and future strategy of his company and delivered this information concisely was particularly helpful for people starting to develop their own business ideas.”
The event offered plenty of opportunities for networking and also included a Business Breakfast sponsored by Yorkshire Bank, and an informative talk about pension auto-enrolment from the main sponsor, Aviva.
A Membership offer available on the day has now been extended until the end of the month (September 2016). To join the Chamber and receive £50 off, please call the Membership Team on 01744 742125.
