St Helens Chamber is holding a range of open events in July and August to help young people get all the information they need before making the important decision about their next step after school.
The events are open to anyone aged 16-24, and their parents/guardians, and are an informal way for young people to ask any questions they might have about Apprenticeships and find out more about the options available to them.
Laura Brogden, Head of Career Development at St Helens Chamber, explained: “Apprenticeships can provide young people with the same qualifications as their peers who go to college or university, but with the added bonus of a wage, no student debt and practical work experience.
“Often, through lack of understanding of the benefits, Apprenticeships can be seen as a lesser alternative – when this definitely isn’t the case! On average Apprentices earn more over their lifetimes than those who’ve gone to University, and they are much more attractive candidates to employers because of their added experience.”
Young people can find out more about the benefits of Apprenticeships and whether its right for them with the following events:
Parents/Guardians/Career Staff Apprenticeship Information session (13/07)
Jobs & Apprenticeships Fair (18/07)
Post-16 Options Drop In Event (20/07)
Hairdressing Apprenticeship Open Evening (20/07)
Manual Skills Apprenticeship Open Evening (20/07)
A Level Results Drop in (18/08)
GCSE Results Day Drop In (25/08)
If you know a young person who would like to find out more about Apprenticeships, either book a place on one of the events above or call on 01744 742045 for more information.
