Homework Hackers is a free short course designed to help parents/guardians who want to boost their Maths and IT skills be better equipped to help their children with their homework.

Research suggests that around 82% of parents in the UK struggle to help children with homework; so, St Helens Chamber created the Homework Hackers course to ensure that parents are supported.

Local parent, Sophie, commented: “Let me start by saying how amazing my tutors Rebecca and Ellie have been. From day one I have felt welcomed, and I have really enjoyed Homework Hackers.

“This course has boosted my confidence in maths so much, I feel a lot happier helping my children in year 7 and year 2 with their homework.”

With the choice of six, one day modules in either Maths or IT, learners on the course can make sure that their skills are up to date and that they are ready to tackle any homework questions that their children may need support with.

Sophie continued: “I didn’t know what to expect when I signed up but this course has been so beneficial to myself and my family and I have learned skills for life.”

With a range of modules to choose from, this training won’t only help with homework support- but will give attendees valuable skills for the workplace and information on keeping their children safe online.

Sophie added: “I highly recommend that every parent sign up to Homework Hackers and refresh their knowledge and understanding.”

The course runs regularly, and learners are supported by tutors every step of the way, alongside a team of Careers Advisers who can support any parents who are looking to get into work too.

As the National Careers Service for St Helens, qualified Careers Advisers are on hand to offer advice and insights into the local job market, helping anyone at any career stage to identify career routes and transferable skills in free one to one appointments.
