The Liverpool City Region (LCR) Cycling and Walking to Work Fund is an exciting new initiative, for businesses.
The Cycling and Walking to Work initiative aims to promote walking and cycling as a viable alternative for accessing work for job seekers, those newly in work and also existing employees. It is being delivered through a number of initiatives, including the promotion of six Community Cycling Hubs in St Helens to access employment opportunities by cycling or walking.
In addition, Business Support Officers are available to provide tailored walking and cycling support to businesses. These both support the public health agenda by increasing levels of activity in the Borough but also provide opportunities to socialise, improve health and fitness and become more independent.
Cycle Hubs
Local Cycle Hubs will offer a range of support to people looking to cycle to work. This support will include:
• Learn to ride
• Basic road awareness session
• Basic cycle maintenance training
• Participation in led rides from the Hubs
• Walking journey plans
• Group provision to eligible groups- potentially at a location more appropriate for your organisation.
Support through the Hubs initiative is available to employees new into work within the previous six months (including Apprentices).
Business Support Officers
Dedicated Business Support Officers from the Merseytravel Engagement Team are available to provide tailored walking and cycling support to businesses and existing employees.
