Grant funding, available through St Helens Chamber, is helping local businesses to realise their growth ambitions with the support of business experts.

To date 21 local businesses have benefited from a Business Growth Grant, between them being awarded over £65,000 in funding to access the expertise of specialist consultants and experts.

Funded by the European Regional Development Fund, the grants can cover up to 35% of the costs of using specialist consultants to support business growth.

Geoff Bates, Business Support Manager at St Helens Chamber, explains: “The Business Growth Grants can support a wide range of business projects, from help with marketing to tendering, improving business processes or gaining industry accreditations.

“The type of projects we can support is wide, the important thing is that the activity will help you to grow your business. The funding is designed to subsidise the costs of using external experts and consultants who are needed to help you complete the project.

“Grant funding is still available so my advice would be if you’re looking to grow the business and think you need some help to do it, talk to us.”

Business Growth Grants are available to St Helens-based SMEs who are operating in a business to business capacity.

Geoff Bates adds: “As well as supporting the individual businesses to grow, the bigger picture of the project is the boost it is providing to the local economy.

“The projects we have supported to date have created 28 new jobs between them, so businesses are not just winning new contracts as a result, but expanding their workforces.”
