COVID-19 highlighted the crucial role of digital technology in the way we live and work and has accelerated the move to online for many more residents, businesses, and organisations.
At the same time, the Pandemic exposed greater inequalities, including digital exclusion, and increased the risk that those who do not have access to digital devices, fast broadband and sufficient data are left even further behind.
This is the reason why St Helens Council developed a business case to Case to build back better from coronavirus and create new jobs and economic opportunities, through continued investment to develop as a digital place and
digital Council.
The Business Case outlined investment in the transformational digital infrastructure project to enable the roll-out of ultrafast full fibre broadband network in Levelling Up St Helens town centre, providing the fastest and most resilient next generation digital infrastructure available.
Provisionally, the Council are looking for expressions of interest.
