Could you help a young person start their career?

Business

At St Helens Chamber we are committed to preparing young people for the local workforce through our Traineeships and Apprenticeships.

Through our range of training programmes, St Helens Chamber has access to a pool of talented young people looking for work experience. Our Traineeships help young people to become ‘work ready’ by combining the work experience, employability skills and Maths/English needed to lead to an Apprenticeship or another job.

Students on our Traineeship complete four weeks in the classroom covering skills such as teamwork, interview techniques, mock interviews and goal setting before they commence work experience.

Work experience is the best way of enabling young people with a flavour of what life is like in the world of work and benefits them greatly, developing their initiative, personal skills, social skills and decision-making as well as getting them ready to enter the workforce.

By providing work experience, you and your business could play a valuable part in helping to develop the next generation of workers.

There are many benefits to offering work experience to young people such as boosting staff development through working with young people, raising your company’s profile by demonstrating ‘Investor in People’ status and widening your recruitment pool.

If you could offer work experience to a young person four days a week for up to seven weeks, then we want to hear from you!

We are particularly looking for placements in Business Administration, Customer Service, Childcare and Health & Social Care. We would agree a job description with you to meet your needs and match this opportunity with suitable young people. There is no requirement that you have a job available at the end of the seven weeks, we just ask that you are willing to provide a reference.
