Are you looking to expand your workforce, or worried about future skills in your business?
We have developed new approaches to help boost construction skills, and right now have several ways to help you meet your business’s skills needs – now and in the longer term. We are constantly working with young people aged 16-24 wanting to work in construction, and we make sure they have the right attitude and some basic skills before they reach you. During their first few weeks with us they undertake:
- Health and safety training
- Level 1 Certificate in Construction – an introduction to a range of skill areas
- Employability skills – focussing on attendance, attitude etc
- CSCS Card
Currently lots of young people are looking for a career in construction, and we need supportive local companies who can offer unpaid work experience placements (from 5-7 weeks) or Apprenticeship opportunities.
If you are ready to recruit an Apprentice, there are grants of up to £3000 available for eligible companies, and fully funded training for your new recruits. If you have multiple vacancies there may be wage subsidies available.
It is fantastic to see the desire to work in the construction sector growing. If you are looking to build and develop your workforce please contact our Workforce Development Team on 01744 742333 or email email@example.com to speak to one of our Advisers.
We are holding a Construction Open Day on Friday 19th August from 2pm – 4pmfor local businesses to come along, see the Training Centre and discuss the support available for developing your workforce. There is no need to book, please just call in to Chamber’s Construction Training Centre, 528 Fleet Lane, Parr, WA9 2NB.
