St Helens Chamber held their Annual Dinner Dance at St Helens RLFC Stadium last week, bringing snooker legend Steve Davis to St Helens.
As St Helens’ primary business event of the year, the dinner saw over 250 guests attending.
Steve Davis has won more professional snooker titles in the sport than any other player, including six World Championships during the 1980s, when he was the world number one for seven years and became the sport’s first millionaire. During his career, Steve has won an impressive total of 71 major titles.
Graham Worsley, Chairman of St Helens Chamber, commented: “Our Annual Dinner Dance is always a highly enjoyable evening and this year was no different.
“On behalf of all at the Chamber I would like to extend our thanks to the team at St Helens RLFC for making the event run so smoothly, our main event sponsors GPW Recruitment, additional sponsors NatWest, Liverpool John Lennon Airport, Wind in the Willows Childcare and Print Solutions and all the businesses who gave so generously to two very worthy charities.”
The evening raised over £7,500 through a charity auction and other fundraising activities, which will be split equally between The Steve Prescott Foundation and Willowbrook Hospice.
Lucky auction bidders on the night took home some fantastic prizes including a snooker cue signed by Steve Davis, four Grandstand and Paddock tickets at Haydock Park Racecourse and two hospitality tickets for Kaiser Chiefs at the 02 Arena London, including a gourmet buffet.
The most popular prize of the evening, a sailing experience for six people on a private yacht, including refreshments and champagne, sold twice, raising £2200 from two generous bidders.
