Beating the ‘Pressure’ at Work

Business

Public Health is delivering a new programme, supported by funding from the British Heart Foundation to support local companies to encourage staff to have a Blood Pressure (BP) test at work. You will help identify employees with high BP ‘the silent killer’ to get treatment.

In the UK, someone dies every 4 minutes due to Cardiovascular Disease and in St Helens, there are 20,000 people walking around with high blood pressure completely unaware. A Blood Pressure Champion in the workplace will not be responsible or liable for interpretation of the results – champions are simply volunteers who want to help tackle heart attacks and strokes in the workplace.

To support business, St Helens Council are offering free training for BP Champions, BP monitors, support and resources to help recruitment for this project. The next round of training will be as follows:

Training session 3 – Wednesday 19th June, at Sainburys Depot, Haydock Industrial Estate, 10.00am-12.00pm
Training sessions 4 – Monday 18th July, at St Helens Rugby Stadium, 5.00pm-7.00pm
