The Liverpool City Region Apprenticeship Graduation 2019 aims to give Apprentices from across Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens and Wirral, the same recognition that university students receive upon the completion of a degree.
Jay comments: "I am very excited to be involved in the Liverpool City Region Apprenticeship Graduation as it is a great way to recognise and reward the success of apprentices in front of their employers, family and friends. Apprenticeships are increasingly being seen on a par with a university route to success and the Liverpool City Region Apprenticeship Graduation will demonstrate this."
Jay is very keen to share with young people the skills he believes have helped him begin his own business, Jay & Co, a social enterprise that works with disadvantaged and disengaged young people to help them achieve sustainable, positive lives through practical and interactive interiors projects.
By working specifically with young people via mentoring and by teaching them the practical skills of how to restore and replenish old furniture, Jay is bringing back into the community many British crafts, which have been long forgotten. Jay’s ethos when working with young people is clear ‘‘if you truly wish to improve your self-confidence, self-esteem, and self-worth, stop allowing other people to be responsible for them’’.
Tickets are still available for the event at liverpoolcityregionapprenticeshipgraduation.eventbrite.co.uk.
