This 7 day course if perfect both for anyone thinking of starting or who has recently started their own business.

Throughout the course you will learn about the skills and qualities needed to start your own business as well as the importance of business planning, how to market your business and how to manage money in business.

This course is broken down into seven workshops:
• Skills & Knowledge: Learn about the skills and qualities needed to start your business.

• Business Planning: Learn how to complete a business plan and describe your product, service, personal profile, legal compliance, suppliers, risks, aims and objectives.

• Marketing (Basics): Gain an understanding of what marketing means, planning and strategy, segmentation and targeting, the 4P’s, branding, features and benefits.

• Managing Money: Learn about what start-up funding you need, where it can be financed and how to complete your cash flow forecast.

• Business IT: Learn how to use IT in your business for marketing and finance purposes.

• Health & Safety: Gain an understanding of Health and Safety Law, Risk Assessments, Hazardous Substances, PPE, Workplace Health and Safety, Fire Prevention, First Aid, Occupational Health, Noise and Manual Handling.

• Marketing for Success: Learn what the term ‘Digital Marketing’ actually means, and how to incorporate Digital Marketing Skills, Social Media, Paid Advertising and Video Marketing into your business.

Introduction to Digital Marketing

This course has been designed to help you develop and expand your knowledge of current marketing techniques. Digital marketing is used in a wide variety of sectors, and many job roles now have responsibility for promoting a business not just the advertising and marketing department. You will gain an insight into marketing trends and develop your skills that are highly sought after by many employers.

To complete this course you should have previous experience of using computers and a good understanding of areas such as file management and internet browsing.

This course is delivered flexibly to meet your needs, and can be delivered over 4 full days or 8 half days, using a combination of taught delivery, online learning in your own time and 1-1 support from our tutors to ensure the programme is flexible to your individual needs.

This course will cover the following areas:

  • Creating simple web pages – using specialised software to create innovative, professional looking websites
  •  Social Media – making the most of Facebook/Twitter/LinkedIn/Hootsuite in business
  •  Video and Imaging software – editing and creating attractive presentations

Reignite Bootcamp

St Helens Chamber has launched a returner programme - Reignite Bootcamp - to help you get back into employment.

We know in today’s world, many rewarding careers do not follow the traditional career path. St Helens Chamber strongly believe that those who have taken time out of employment due to life commitments, have the potential to bring skills and experience back to the workplace.

Reignite Bootcamp is targeted at individuals who are enthusiastic about returning to work. The programme will run for 3 weeks, with the chance to apply for local job positions upon successful completion.

 
What can you expect from Reignite Bootcamp?
The 3 week Bootcamp is based at St Helens Chamber, and will run from 25th February to 15th March 2019. Childcare costs will be covered from 09:30-15:30.

You will complete a range of courses from Project Management, to Digital Marketing, enabling you to build on your knowledge and previous experience, and gain insight into new areas of interest. Throughout the Bootcamp, you will receive mentoring and support to help you transition successfully back into the workplace.
We will equip you with skills and knowledge, and help you build on your confidence to apply for new roles at the end of the Reignite Bootcamp.

Reignite Bootcamp will explore flexible and agile working practices to balance home-life and work. We are working alongside many local firms such as Wind in the Willows, Proactive Dispatch, Winch Solutions and many more, to help secure you a new job.

Digital Skills for Jobseekers will help you find your way safely around the internet, set up a personal email address if you don't already have one and make use of the internet for searching for work.

This course is suitable for anyone who has little or no experience with IT.

By completing this course you will increase your confidence and knowledge of digital platforms to help find an apply for a job online.

This course is delivered over 4 full days or 8 half days using a combination of taught delivery, online learning in your own time and 1-1 support from our tutors to ensure the programme is flexible to your individual needs.

During this course, you will:

  • Understand how to use a computer/tablet/mobile device to aid job searching and universal credit applications
  • Learn how to make Universal Credit applications online
  • Use a word processing application to create, edit and produce a CV
  • Learn how to connect to the internet and use browser software to navigate to web pages
  • Use browser tools to search for job vacancies online
  • Learn how to set up an email address and use email software to send and receive emails
  • Learn how to download apps onto mobile devices, particularly job searching tools
