AAT Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping

Get all the skills you need for a successful career in the finance industry with our AAT Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping.

The qualification:

The purpose of the AAT Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping is to ensure that students have the necessary skills in bookkeeping needed for most finance roles. Students will gain the knowledge and skills needed to carry out typical bookkeeping transactions and tasks in two mandatory units. 

Students completing this qualification will develop the underpinning skills required in all accountancy and finance roles. They will use bookkeeping skills to confidently perform accounting transactions and understand how to process financial information in accordance with set procedures and schedules

This qualification is suitable for those already working in finance, those returning to work after a break or those wishing to change career. The qualification is open to those who are working and those who are not currently in employment. It also offers progression for students who have started studying accountancy and bookkeeping with AAT.

Course structure:

Bookkeeping Transactions

  • Understand financial transactions within a bookkeeping system
  • Process customer transactions
  • Process supplier transactions
  • Process receipts and payments
  • Process transactions through the ledgers to the trial balance

Bookkeeping Controls

  • Understand payment methods
  • Understand controls in a bookkeeping system
  • Use control accounts
  • Use the journal
  • Reconcile a bank statement with the cash book

Assessment method:

Students must successfully complete two unit assessments to achieve this qualification. The proportion of this qualification assessed by external assessment is 100%. 

On successful completion of the course learners will achieve the AAT Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping.

This course lasts two days from 9:30am - 4:00pm and is based at our Clickworks building. 

By the end of the session all learners will have:

  • An understanding of useful information to have prepared before the interview
  • An understanding of what interviewers will be expecting in regards to; Punctuality, Dress Sense, Behaviour and Language Use
  • An understanding of the importance of researching the interviewing organisation
  • An understanding of questions to ask the interviewer

Having a good CV is vital while you are seeking work, our advisors will give you guidance and advice in what you should and shouldn’t have in your CV.

We also offer Interview skills sessions to help you perfect your technique so you can go to interviews with confidence.

On successful completion of this course learners will gain the Entry Level 3 Award in Work Skills.

Whether you’re wanting to develop a new skill to give your clients the latest trend, or brush up on your skills this workshop will teach you to braid English, French & Dutch style.

Learn how to create the ‘wow’ factor for your clients and capitalise on the trends as well as combining the latest ‘express’ red carpet themed hair up styles in this one day practical course; Plaits are very popular for all sorts of events such as bridal, proms, ladies day & other special occasions.

Ideal for beginners or stylists wanting to expand their skills or those with an interest in styling hair, you will cover:

  • Demonstrations with up to 5 styling techniques covered.
  • Participants will work on model from within own household/social bubble or mannequin head (if accessible) to create various plaited/ braided looks. 
  • Product recommendations, aftercare advice and price guidance. 
  • Hair and scalp analysis. 
  • Work on 2,3,4 strand braids along with Faux Braids.

Digital Skills for Jobseekers will help you find your way safely around the internet, set up a personal email address if you don't already have one and make use of the internet for searching for work.

This course is suitable for anyone who has little or no experience with IT.

By completing this course you will increase your confidence and knowledge of digital platforms to help find an apply for a job online.

This course is delivered over 4 full days at our Clickworks building from 9.30am-4.00pm.

During this course, you will:

  • Understand how to use a computer/tablet/mobile device to aid job searching and universal credit applications
  • Learn how to make Universal Credit applications online
  • Use a word processing application to create, edit and produce a CV
  • Learn how to connect to the internet and use browser software to navigate to web pages
  • Use browser tools to search for job vacancies online
  • Learn how to set up an email address and use email software to send and receive emails
  • Learn how to download apps onto mobile devices, particularly job searching tools

On successful completion of the course you will gain the City & Guilds Entry Level 3 Award for IT Users.
