Request for Quotation – Three year Business Plan and support in Early Stage Execution
Please click here to view full RFQ document
Background
Acorn Electrical Supplies Ltd has had a successful trading history for over thirty years, enjoying loyal support in the Business to Business market it serves from its three local branches.
The Electrical Product Distribution marker has a positive outlook driven by the following trends:
Requirements for greater energy efficiency in residential, industrial and retain end markets.
The growth in electrical vehicle numbers.
Zero-carbon objectives via renewable energy technologies.
The evolution of “smart” devices and building management system.
Acorn has operated a consistent model based on a traditional route to market, predominately with branch based sales teams. The market is now being disrupted with new digital models being available to customers and also with Nation and ‘#Regional competitors becoming “multi-channel” and raising service standards in the sector. The business has been run since foundation by Rob Williams who now wishes to take a step back and the responsibility for the effective development of the business is now passing to the “next generation” with the management structure. The business needs re-invigorating to ensure it avoids flat lining or seeing a decline. A business plan is needed to improve its commercial strategy and it needs to be developed and securely executed.
Requirement
This RFQ is for business advisory services to support Acorn in developing and delivering an all-encompassing business plan which will set the business on its next stage of development as a “modernised” Electrical Distributor with the appropriate technology base and customer offer to significantly ramp up growth. Positioning Acorn to take advantage of the prevailing good market conditions.
Outcomes will include
1 Alignment of commercial strategy, sales and marketing processes and information systems
2 Improved customer service capability and capacity to scale up the business
3 Adoption of product management disciplines to streamline the product range and provide capacity for research,
development and launch of new ranges to address the new market trends
4 Adoption of a data rational culture and appropriate tools to support decision making
5 Mentoring, coaching and as appropriate training the Leadership team
6 Upskilling and development of the wider team particularly in sales, marketing and product knowledge
The approach will be on a sequenced step by stop basis to as to avoid overwhelming the business. The overall time line is therefore seen as a three year evolution.
Deliverable Timescale
Acorn has already commenced internal planning and preparation work and wishes to get going as soon as possible. The project will be over a period of 12 months and the first major stage gate in measuring progress will be December 2022.
