Description – The commissioning of this service is informed by key legislation and policy drivers including, but not limited to; The Care Act 2014, which places a duty on Local Authorities to promote the wellbeing of the individual through personalised services and to prevent, delays and reduce the need for care and support. This includes the direct provision of services to enable individuals to remain independent for longer. The service outlined here forms part of this requirement. The Care and Support (Charging and Assessment of Resources) Regulations 2014 require that minor aids and adaptations provided up to the value of £1,000 must always be provided free of charge. Community equipment, including aids and minor adaptations, (costing £1000 or less) must be provided free of charge whether provided to meet or prevent/delay needs. Adaptations, and community equipment can reduce the risk to health, help maintain independence or support reablement or recovery.
