Low Carbon and Sustainability Strategy

Our first Low Carbon and Sustainability Strategy, sets out our approach to reducing our carbon footprint and increasing our contribution to achieving Net Zero targets.

This strategy has been developed by a working group formed of Chamber colleagues.

Our Low Carbon and Sustainability Strategy has been developed to support the Mission and Values of St Helens Chamber. By reducing the carbon footprint of our own facilities, premises, and workforce, we have set an ambition to help businesses and residents in St Helens to adapt to the new reality of climate change.

St Helens Business Vehicle Grant

In partnership with the Department for Environment, Farming and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and St Helens Council, the Chamber launched the St Helens Business Vehicle Grant Scheme in June 2023.  The grant provides part-funding towards the replacement of older, non-compliant commercial vehicles that operate within the Borough to help tackle the reduction in the NOx emissions.

Phase 2 of applications for the St Helens Business Vehicle Grant launched in July 2023 and will remain open until the grant is fully spent; with a total of £550,000 to be distributed to local Taxis and businesses.
