For Plastech Expansion the only way is Essex

Local plastic distributor Plastech Ltd has shown that even in difficult times it is possible to thrive and grow, with the recent opening of their new depot in Colchester, Essex.
The company, which is based on Park Industrial Estate in Haydock, was formed in 1997 by the present directors Cliff Lloyd and Paul Quin. The business has grown steadily ever since and presently employs 21 people at its Haydock Site.
Supplying a vast range of plastic piping, drainage and specialist products to all sectors of the construction, civil engineering and associated industries, the company aims to be a one stop shop for its long list of clients.
Managing Director Cliff Lloyd put the company’s success down to giving customers the right products, at the right price, backed up with great customer service. He says: “We have well-trained staff who know the industry and who are fully conversant with all the products we sell. We also have our own delivery fleet, which means that we can react quickly to customer demands.”
Plastech is committed to training its staff and has recently employed an Apprentice sales person through the Chambers Apprenticeship programme. Cliff commented: “We are pleased to give a young person the chance to get started in a career and it’s been good for us to have a young person in the office. We like our staff to develop within the business and two of our depots are managed by staff who have worked their way up the ladder.”
The new depot is the latest of Plastech’s four sites and gives the company a presence in the South East of the country. Cliff explained: “We have had good sales in the South East for quite a while so it made sense to consolidate our presence by opening a depot in the area. The new depot ensures that we are within easy reach of London and Kent, as well as Norfolk and Suffolk.”
For the future Cliff says further expansion is possible, but for the time being is keeping his cards close to his chest as to where it might be.
