A health and
safety policy is a document which may be broken down into
3 main parts:
|
a)
|
A
general policy statement |
|
b)
|
The
responsibilities and corresponding organisational
structure for health and safety |
|
c)
|
The
arrangements for ensuring employee's health and
safety |
General Policy Statement
This forms the first part of your health and safety policy.
This statement should outline the company's general aims
with regard to the health and safety of their employees,
and emphasise their commitment to ensuring a safe working
environment.
Organisational Structure
It is necessary to determine the organisation structure
of the company thereby ensuring that the person(s) responsible
for health and safety can be clearly identified. An easy
and effective way to do this by developing an organisational
tree.
In addition to the organisational tree, it is necessary
to detail the responsibilities of those persons detailed
on the structure with relation to health and safety. These
responsibilities may be those required by law, and those
which the company impose. |
