Built out
of an industrial heritage of glass, chemicals and coal,
St Helens has rapidly moved away from its ' workshop of
the world' image to that of a centre for European and
World business innovation. St Helens is a thriving, dynamic
and vibrant location for business and the Chamber continues
to be the leading source of advice, support and representation
for all businesses in the area.

Growth St Helens is one of four national pilots within
this high profile initiative, sponsored by the Small
Business Service and championed by the Chancellor.
Based on an American Model,
the project aims to develop and implement strategies which
put enterprise and business at the heart of regeneration
focussing on the competitive economic advantages of the
area rather than the social disadvantages.
A City Growth Strategy Board has been formed to drive
the initiative forward and consists of 12 private sector
business leaders, together with the Cabinet Member for
Urban Regeneration, the Head of Urban Regeneration, the
Chief Executive of St Helens Chamber and the Executive
Director of the Local Strategic Partnership.
