| Excellent
communications networks and the ability to cherry pick
from a talented pool of potential employees were crucial
factors in MoneyExpert’s decision to locate its
business in St Helens.
The
website and call centre were launched three years ago
at The Parks business site in Lodge Lane, Newton Le
Willows and MoneyExpert has established itself as a
major player in financial services, helping hundreds
of thousands of customers each year.
MoneyExpert
compares products from the whole of the personal finance
marketplace and provides details on every product from
all of the major providers in the market. It provides
information on the best credit cards, personal loans,
savings and current accounts and mortgages, as well
as debt consolidation and utilities. The service is
free to customers with MoneyExpert earning commission
for every financial product sold.
In
an effort to set itself apart from the dozens of other
financial companies providing a similar service and
to take things a step further, the company began commissioning
research into financial providers, with customers rating
the service they get.
“It
is really important that our customers get the best
possible service from the providers we feature and,
in doing so, it is crucial that we provide an excellent
service as well,” explained Sean Gardner, Chief
Executive of MoneyExpert.
As well as comparing the best products on the market,
MoneyExpert can also match customers up with the most
appropriate financial product for them.
“When
customers are looking for a product such as a mortgage
or credit card, it is easy to forget that the financial
companies will be critical of you and will look very
carefully at your personal circumstances,” added
Sean. “Every time a credit check is run on a person,
it affects their credit rating. We can put together
a profile using the same criteria that a financial company
would use to match the customer up with the best product
for them.”
MoneyExpert’s
50-seat call centre covers the ground floor of its premises
and the company has recently invested in the latest
cutting edge digital technology to ensure that customers
receive an efficient and effective service.
“If
we become very busy, we employ more people to ensure
that the high levels of customer care that we strive
for are not affected,” explained Sean. “We
have no problem recruiting people as we are very employee-focussed.”
MoneyExpert
was set up three years ago, the result of a management
buy-out, and born out of an earlier venture called Blaze
which supplied information to financial organisations
wanting to know what their competitors were doing.
MoneyExpert
was launched with the help of Merseyside Special Investment
Fund, which provided some venture capital investment.
The
company works with several partner organisations such
as Wanadoo, AOL and the Mirror, for whom MoneyExpert
provide online financial services.
Sean
added: “We enjoy strong relations with St Helens
Chamber, which has been very supportive and has helped
us to network with local businesses such as printers
and photographers who have helped us put together our
marketing materials.”
